In July, the Journal of Physical Activity and Health published a study in which researchers found that people who owned dogs where more likely to be active. RunnersWorld.com reported on the researchers’ findings and noted that, “On average, 60 percent of dog owners walked 160 minutes per week and four times per week, a greater amount and frequency than people in the dog-less households.”

I love running. Even more, I love running with my dogs. I have been running with my dogs for almost 20 years now, starting with Sweet Sally Brown, then Tino, Becca , and now Maggie and Jack. We are fortunate that since we moved to the West Coast, we have lived near great parks and trails, which make it easier to bring your dog on a run. Introducing Captain Crusoe!

Well, today is one to go down in the history books. It’s the day I reveal Captain Crusoe – sailor of the seven seas, slayer of sea monsters, seducer of sexy mermaids, and likely the cutest nautical wiener you’ve even seen.
